One of the biggest criticisms to come out of the DCEU films is that they often go on for too long. Most entries like Batman vs. Superman and Man of Steel were criticized for being over 2 and a half hours long but recent films seemed to have learned from this mistake. DC’s latest entry Joker was just over two hours long and their next major film, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), has been reported to be shorter in comparison to other superhero films.

Birds of Prey’s runtime will be 108 minutes, or an hour and 48 minutes. This could make it the shortest film of the DCEU, as other films have ranged from Batman vs. Superman‘s 151 minute runtime to Justice League‘s 121 minute runtime. This time however, Birds of Prey will run for about as long as the Deadpool movies, which it has obviously taking a lot from.

Nothing is officially confirmed for Birds of Prey, however. There’s still a good chance the film will be closer to the 2 hour mark than we’re lead on to believe. However, it’s also likely that this runtime could stay as it is, considering the positive reception to shorter DC films. If Birds of Prey becomes a huge success in the vein of Deadpool, then fans could have more films in this cinematic universe that aren’t regulated passing the two hour mark.

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is set for release February 7th 2020.
