Warner Animation recently released the trailer for DC’s upcoming animated movie Superman: Red Son,based off of the famous comic book Elseworld story of the same name. The trailer can be viewed below:
The plot follows the story of Kal-El, the last surviving Kryptonian, who crashes on Earth as an infant. But unlike in most stories Kal-El does not land in Smallville USA, but instead ends up on a collective farm in Soviet Russia. And instead of being raised by Ma and Pa Kent, who teach him truth, justice, and the American way, the Kryptonian is reared by the Russian government, who teach him to fight for “Stalin, Socialism and the International Expansion of the Warsaw Pact.”
The animated film’s cast list was announced a few months ago. Superman sill be voiced by actor Jason Isaacs, who previously voiced Green Lantern villain Sinestro in the past. Lex Luthor is being voiced by Diedrich Bader, who previously served as the voice of Batman in Batman: The Brave and the Bold and the current Harley Quinn series. Vanessa Marshall and Phil LaMarr will be reprising their voice roles as Wonder Woman and Green Lantern John Stewart from previous DC animated programs.
According to Newsarama, Superman: Red Son will be released to digital streaming platforms on February 25, 2020. The movie will also have a DVD and Blu-ray release later on March 17, 2020.
