Actor Rip Torn passed away on July 9th. At the time of his death he was 88 years old. He died peacefully at his home in Connecticut while was surrounded by his family members.
Torn was born in Temple Texas in 1931. He made his film debut in the 50’s film Baby Doll. He made his first appearance as Broadway actor as an original cast member of Sweet Bird of Youth, which is a Tennessee Williams play.
Torn had led an eventful life and made an extensive acting career with almost 200 acting credits on his IMDb page from roles in stage theater, television shows, and movies. One of Torn’s best known performances was for the character Artie on The Larry Sanders Show, which earned him an Emmy for best supporting actor in a comedy series. The actor was also nominated for an Oscar back in 1984 for his performance in the movie Cross Creek. He was also a regular actor in Broadway shows, and he was even nominated for a Tony in the 1960’s. Torn was also well known for his role as Agent Z in 1997’s Men in Black.
His former co-star Will Smith paid a thoughtful tribute to Torn on Instagram. Other friends of Torn took to Twitter to express their grief and condolences to his family.
