A new promotional image has been shared from the upcoming live action remake of Dumbo starring Eva Green, Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, and Danny DeVito and directed by Tim Burton.
This photo shows circus owner Max Medici, played by DeVito, showing off the baby Dumbo and his mother. The film will follow Dumbo growing up at the circus being raised by Holt Farrier (Farrell) as he deals with ridicule because of his large ears. As the circus struggles to stay afloat, Dumbo’s quirk is turned into a talent as he learns to fly and becomes a star. However, the circus is not as spectacular as it seems, as some questionable characters plot to exploit the animals unless Dumbo and his friends can take a stand against them.
In relation to the animated original film, the live-action remake will focus more on the human characters, giving many of the circus performers more in-depth backstories as well as adding some original characters. There will be no talking animals, so that means there will be no CGI mouse or crows playing key roles in the film. Dumbo himself will also be silent, meaning that the human characters will be the driving forces of the narrative.
Dumbo will be released on March 29, 2019, and we look forward to seeing Burton’s take on the 1941 classic.
