Yesterday via a post on Twitter from the account “@MonarchSciences”, which is a social media and website tie in to the upcoming Godzilla film, we got another look at the Kaiju known as Rodan.
Rodan has for many years been a monster in the Godzilla universe, despite first appearing in its own self titled film in 1956, and he is on the roster of kaiju that will be present in next year’s film Godzilla: King of the Monsters. He seems to be modeled after a pterodactyl with his large bird like wings, beak shaped head, and hard featherless skin. The clip on twitter is made to seem distorted, making it hard to make out the creature well even though there is a long history of its design.
Monsters is a Michael Dougherty directed sequel to the 2014 Gareth Edwards film Godzilla and it will star Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Ken Watanabe, and Zhang Ziyi. We got our first look at the project with a trailer from summer of this year building excitement for the next installment of the long running franchise.
Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute the film in the US when it releases on May 31st of next year. You can see the aforementioned tweet below.
