“Sometimes dead is better.”
This morning, horror lovers rejoiced at the release of the much-anticipated remake of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary. After watching the barely two minute trailer, we can safely say that this reimagining of King’s classic novel and the 1989 film is going to be exactly what fans are looking for.
In the first few seconds of the trailer, we’re welcomed by what seems to be a warm and beautiful forest as well as the Creed family making their way into a new life. It feels almost peaceful, but the eerie music creeping through the background lights up the hairs on our backs.
As we go deeper into the small segments of the film, the real horrors of the world the young family has just come to really begin to rear their ugly heads. When the family meets their old and mysterious neighbor (John Lithgow), they learn of the evil land within the woods behind their house, the pet sematary, which has been used to bring the dead back to life for centuries.
Although they know of the evils that lie just behind their back door, the family may have no choice but to use it for their own benefit, especially with all of the semi-truck traffic speeding past their home.
Other cast members include Jason Clarke (Louis Creed) and Amy Seimetz (Rachel Creed).
The Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer directed film is set for release on April 5, 2019.
