Fans of the Dragon Ball franchise are rejoicing, because just recently a new trailer for the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie was released. Hype for the new movie has been building up ever since it was revealed that the film’s main antagonist was going to be fan favorite Broly, the Legendary Super Saiyan.
While the first trailer mostly teased the epic fights between Broly and the protagonists Goku and Vegeta as well as the alien conquerer Frieza, this new trailer shows off a lot the backstory of the Saiyan characters and Frieza who will be sporting a brand new look in the flashbacks. It is speculated that since series creator Akira Toriyama is the writer of the movie, part it will be adapting his prequel manga Dragon Ball Minus: The Departure of the Fated Child, but it is still too early to tell.
The trailer also revealed the appearance of many familiar characters such as the five members Ginyu Force who were seen striking one of their famous poses, Vegeta’s father King Vegeta, Frieza’s father King Cold, and Goku’s father Bardock, who has always been a fan favorite. Also appearing in the movie is Gine, Goku’s mother, who had never appeared in the anime until now.
Vegeta’s voice actor, Chris Sabat, confirmed that he along with the voice actors Sean Schemmel, Chris Ayers, and Dameon Clarke would be reprising their roles as Vegeta, Goku, Frieza, and Paragus respectively.
Dragon Ball Super: Broly will be released in the U.S. on January 16, 2019.
