Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, the classic book trilogy by Alvin Schwartz, as we know, is now going to be made into a terrifying and reminiscent film produced by recent Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro.
Director André Øvredal has found a perfect cast for the upcoming film which is set to begin production this week. Alongside the already announced Zoe Colletti, the newest cast members include Michael Garza, Austin Abrams, Gabriel Rush, Austin Zanjur, and Natalie Gazhorn.
Øvredal stated the following about his recently added cast members:
“We spent months searching for and assembling the perfect group of actors to help us realize the most terrifying adaptation that we could conceive.”
The young cast will be portraying characters from the script written by del Toro, Daniel and Kevin Hageman, and Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. The idea behind the film version of the classic short stories follows a group of teen who decide to solve the mystery of wave of horrific deaths occurring in their town.
The Shape of Water producer J. Miles Dale, Sean Daniel and Jason Brown of Hivemind and Elizabeth Grave will produce alongside del Toro for the film.
Del Toro stated the following about his excitement for the upcoming horror project:
“I am honored to support Andre’s vision and, with our partners, to bring the incredible world of ‘Scary Stories’ to the screen.”
