Four years after Alfonso Cuaron‘s Gravity won him the best director at the Academy Awards, he is now bringing light to his childhood home in the Netflix film, Roma, with its first trailer debuting this week.
The Spanish-language drama follows the story of a middle class family in the course of a year in the early 1970s. They face the life changing events of the domestic workers in Mexico as they brace for the confrontation between the government-backed militia and student demonstration.
The film stars Yalitza Aparicio and Marina de Tavira and is set to launch in theaters and globally later this year. It is will also be world premiering in festival competitions including Venice, Toronto and NYFF.
