Patrick Schwarzenegger (Go North, Stuck in Love, Midnight Sun), Miles Robbins (Halloween, Blockers), Sasha Lane (After Everything, Hearts Beat Loud), and Hannah Marks (The Amazing Spider-man, The Runways) will star in the thriller Daniel Isn’t Real, a film produced by SpectreVision and directed by Adam Egypt Mortimer. The film is based on the novel In This Way I Was Saved by Brian DeLeeuw, who co-wrote the movie script with Mortimer. This is the second feature from writer/director Adam Egypt Mortimer following 2015’s Some Kind of Hate.
The film is about a troubled college freshman named Luke (Robbins) who struggles to deal with a violent family trauma. To cope with reality, Luke conjures his childhood imaginary friend Daniel (Schwarzenegger), who is charismatic and full of manic energy. He helps Luke achieve his dreams, but Daniel then pushes Luke’s subconscious to the very edge of sanity, trying to take control of his mind, body, and soul.
“Daniel Isn’t Real is a stylized, sexy, and emotionally nuanced supernatural thriller,” Elijah Woods from SpectreVision said. “It provides a terrifying look into the things that everyone hides beneath the surface.”
The shoot began in July 2018 in New York City.
