Cheng Cheng Films has become known for bringing new and popular Asian films to North America, currently sitting at seven in total. That number will be brought up to eight with a new film titled Who Killed Cock Robin?, a psychological crime thriller from Taiwan, according to Variety. The movie participated in the 54th Golden Horse Awards, a film awards show that showcases the best Chinese-language films in Taipei, Taiwan.
Who Killed Cock Robin? centers around a horrible event from the past which remains unsolved: a tragic hit and run. Because of the lack of answers, a writer decides to finally look into the occurrence, which will hopefully result in much-needed justice. However, there is an interesting complexity to his motive: the writer saw it all happen but could not stop it. The film stars Mason Lee, a famous actor who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Horses and acted in The Hangover Part 2 and Lucy. Lee is a part of a legacy in the film world, as his famous father Ang Lee directed Life of Pi and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
The film is being directed by Cheng Wei-Hao, who made the hit The Tag-Along. Cheng Cheng looks to release the film in American theaters in Spring 2018. Considering the track record with the director, we believe the film will be a must watch, especially with its four nominations at the Golden Horses.
