Darkest Hour has been on our radars since the first trailer was released, and all of the news and various snippets have given us plenty of reason to be excited for this film. The official international trailer has been released for the film, and the intensity of the situation in the movie is perfectly captured in the trailer.
Gary Oldman (Leon: The Professional, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) stars as the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill as he attempts keep his country’s hope alive while simultaneously making a most difficult decision of whether or not to negotiate with the Nazis on a peace treaty. Oldman looks almost unrecognizable as Churchill, and it appears to be one of Oldman’s best performances to date. He is surrounded by a fantastic supporting cast including Lily James (Baby Driver), Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One), Kristin Scott Thomas (Mission Impossible), and Nicholas Jones (Philomena).
Joe Wright (Atonement, Hanna) has taken the directing reins for the film, and it will not be his first time directing a wartime picture, with Atonement being his first. The film was written by Anthony McCarten (The Theory of Everything). Darkest Hour has a U.S. release date of November 22nd, 2017, and an international release date of January 12, 2018.
