Film is an amazing way to discuss themes and controversial topics in a way that can be difficult to talk about or debate. Human Traces is another one of these films tackling the folly of man and the death of the environment. The trailer has officially been released out of the Toronto International Film Festival, courtesy of Deadline.
Human Traces focuses on a couple who are working on a small sub-Antarctic research station in the middle of the Southern Ocean. Their goal is to return the ecosystem of the island to before they arrived, which has proven to be more difficult than they imagined. Another anomaly for the couple arrives in the form of a young man who joins the research team. Neither of the couple know who he is or how he discovered the research station, and it leads to a crazy mystery that contains a dead body, lies, cheating, and trickery.
The film stars three actors: Mark Mitchinson (The Hobbit, Filthy Rich), Sophie Henderson (Fantail, The Most Fun You Can Have Dying), and Vinnie Bennett (Ghost in the Shell, Power Rangers). The film is directed and written by newcomer Nic Gorman, and is currently being screened at TIFF.
