We thought we could escape the creepy clowns that plagued much of social media in 2016, but Tony Cadwell feels that we need more nightmarish fuel with this trailer for his new film Behind the Sightings. The film focuses on two reporters who have been researching the clown sightings in North Carolina and other states. They decide to explore the forests where many of the clowns were seen, but the clowns do not like the invasion and proceed to torment the two reporters.
The film looks to use the “found footage” style, which has been used in the horror genre significantly over the past 10 years to varying success, with success stories including the Paranormal Activity franchise and The Blair Witch Project. The use of found footage coupled with the common fear of clowns looks to create an extremely horrifying atmosphere and film.
Cadwell will be making his directorial debut with Behind the Sightings, aided by the production company Tommy V Productions, who recently produced the horror thriller Intruders and currently producing the boxing film Glass Jaw. The film does not have a release date, but looks to open theatrically sometime during the month of October.
