While positive early reviews begin to roll in for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, early viewings reveal that the film will have a total of 5 post-credit scenes, the most for any comic book movie ever. Director James Gunn confirmed the news in a reply to Screen Rant’s report on Twitter.
According to sources, these five scenes are mostly comprised of fun scenarios meant to keep with the film’s comedic tones, however, at least two of the scenes will set up various situations for future Marvel films. This news comes at an apropos moment as Gunn revealed yesterday that he will in fact be returning to the franchise to write and direct Vol. 3. His involvement had still been up in the air until now.
Sources are not revealing any more in terms of content, but also tell audiences to pay attention to the credits themselves. If it was ever important to stay in your seats, it’s now. Little is still known about the plot, but Vol. 2 is set to continue the Guardians’ adventures as the dig into the mystery of Peter Quill’s (Chris Pratt) parentage. Vin Diesel, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, and Bradley Cooper return alongside Kurt Russell, Nathan Fillion, Sylvester Stallone, and more.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5.
