According to Deadline, Academy Award-winning actress Melissa Leo (The Fighter) is set to star in Always on My Mind. Chris D’Arienzo (Rock of Ages) helms from his own script about a devoted wife (Leo) dealing with her rock star husband’s Alzheimer’s disease. While caring for him, a secret is outed – her husband has fathered a son with another woman. Despite her intense feelings of betrayal around the discovery, she nevertheless works to reunite father and son. The role of the veteran rock star has yet to be cast. Felipe Marino (Madame Bovary) is producing the indie drama.
Leo had an early notable career on television, winning accolades for roles on All My Children and Homicide: Life on the Street. Her breakthrough feature film role came in 2008’s Frozen River, which garnered her a Best Actress Oscar nomination. She won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for 2010’s The Fighter starring Mark Wahlberg (Patriots Day). Her recent film credits include this year’s Novitiate, directed by Margaret Betts and The Most Hated Woman in America, directed by Tommy O’Haver.
