Awards season continues as we inch ourselves closer and closer to the Oscars. As such, the guilds are starting to announce their top picks for the best of 2016, as the American Cinema Editors did so today in unveiling their nominations for the 67th ACE Eddie Awards. Celebrating the year’s best achievement in film editing as chosen by the very industry professionals who understand the process, the ACE Eddie nominations offer not just a glimpse of what may strike Oscar’s fancy in the Best Film Editing category but also a glimmer of which movies may prove consensus picks for the industry as a whole.
Critics favorites and major awards hopefuls like La La Land, Manchester by the Sea and Moonlight all earned nods – the ACE Eddie separate categories between dramas and comedies – while Arrival, Hacksaw Ridge and Hell or High Water, respectively, received some love as well which might boost overall buzz.
