Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tom Hiddleston appeared (in a Gorilla suit) and premiered the brand new trailer for Kong: Skull Island. The film also stars Brie Larson, John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson, and John C. Reilly.
The film follows a team of scientists sent out on an expedition to research a newly discovered island in the South Pacific. “A place where myth and science meet,” Goodman’s character says at the start of the trailer. But what the crew doesn’t know is that there is a king of this island, a king who doesn’t particularly like strangers barging into his home.
The trailer is action-packed and gives us a clear picture what the film is about. I applaud director Jordan Vogt-Roberts for giving us an up close and personal look at King Kong, unlike most of the other monster movies out there, who like to drag it out till the very end. This new trailer follows what originally premiered at San Diego Comic-Con this past summer and it doesn’t disappoint, even adding in some unexpected comedic bits, thanks to Reilly, who appears to be the expert on Kong adding “Kong’s a pretty good King, keeps to himself mostly.”
Sure, we are going to see the classic tale of Man vs Beast, but this film looks to up the ante bringing even more creatures into the fold that live on Skull Island.
Also, debuting yesterday are two new posters courtesy of Hiddleston and Larson’s social media accounts.
