According to The Wrap ‘Wolverine 3’, otherwise known as Logan, recently unveiled some major casting choices as well as a small plot summary.
The film, directed by James Mangold, will take place in 2024 where mutant births are becoming more and more rare and it’s up to Wolverine (once again played by Hugh Jackman) to figure out why. A program much like the Stryker program we’ve seen in other Wolverine and X-Men films will be present, but this time takes the name of Transigen. This villainous organization turns mutant children into their own personal military weapons. The child holding Wolverine’s hand in the recently revealed poster is said to be named ‘Laura’ and will be played by Sienna Novikov (Bad Moms, Daddy’s Home). Novikov will be playing a two-clawed adamantium experiment named Weapon X-23 and will be tutored by Jackman, also known as Weapon X.
Boyd Holbrook (Narcos) is said to be playing Donald Pierce, the head of Transigen security. The official Weapon X Instagram recently revealed a photo of him with the caption “Pierce.”
Richard E. Grant (Game of Thrones) will play Dr. Zander Rice, the surgeon who helped create Novikov’s character of X-23 whereas his father, Dale Rice, turned Logan into Weapon X. Grant’s character seeks to recreate the Weapon X project in the name of his father who was killed by Wolverine.
The R-rated Logan will be coming to theaters March 3, 2017.
