Scott Eastwood (The Longest Ride) is going for a little joyride. Universal announced that the son of Clint Eastwood would be joining Fast 8, the latest in the Fast and Furious franchise. Eastwood comes aboard as a new character. This comes on the heels of the confirmation that Oscar winner Charlize Theron would be joining the blockbuster franchise last week.

The Fast franchise has been known to add hammy and over the top characters over the years from Dwayne Johnson to Jason Statham. They also suffered the tragic loss of Paul Walker, who played the protagonist in the series, during the production of Fast 7. Along with Eastwood and Theron, the main cast will be making it’s return, featuring Vin Diesel, Johnson, Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, and Tyrese Gibson. F. Gary Gray is set to direct the project.
This is the latest big-deal pic for Eastwood, who will be seen starring in the D.C. blockbuster Suicide Squad, which Warner Bros releases August 5. He also appears in the Oliver Stone-directed Snowden, which Open Road will release on September 16. He is repped by UTA and Joanne Horowitz Management. Fast 8 is scheduled for a an April 14, 2017 release.
