Just after the release of some enticing stills from director Tim Burton‘s upcoming project, a trailer could only be expected to pop up sooner rather than later. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is the adaptation of the bestselling YA novel by Ransom Riggs. It follows a young boy who discovers a magical group of people after vacationing with his father. The group of oddballs and misfits have strange, mystical powers that make them cast-out of society. With this trailer, it seems like Burton is staying relatively close to the source material.
Not only is the film’s concept intriguing but there’s also a phenomenal cast to back it up. Eva Green (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For) plays the title character, with Asa Butterfield (Hugo) as the troubled young protagonist; Samuel L. Jackson (Django Unchained), Dame Judi Dench (Skyfall), and Rupert Everett (Shrek 2) also star in supporting roles. By the look of the film itself, it’s hard to tell which type of Burton’s iconic visual style we may be in for. It could be similar to his big-budget ventures like Alice in Wonderland or Dark Shadows, or maybe the more intimate ones like Big Fish and Edward Scissorhands.
But either way, there’s some great shots of creepy ghouls, underwater ship wrecks, and pecuilar children with invisible limbs. With its release coming up in just a few months, this may be the only full trailer we get before the real thing. Hopefully this will be a return to form for Burton, and, luckily, this just screams like the perfect film for him to achieve that.
