Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit cover model Kate Upton is set to star alongside James and Dave Franco in the upcoming New Line film The Disaster Artist, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie follows the making of the notorious cult classic The Room, a film by Tommy Wisseau. Many regard the film as the worst ever made, which has helped fuel its popularity. Theaters across the country still hold screenings of the 2003 drama, equipped with fan participation. The Disaster Artist is based on the award-winning 2013 book of the same name, written by Greg Sestero and Tom Bissell, who were both involved in the original film.
Along with playing the role of Wisseau, James Franco will direct the script written by The Spectacular Now screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. Dave Franco will act alongside his brother playing Sestero and Seth Rogen is also on board as producer.
Also recently added to the project were Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games), Ari Graynor (Bad Teacher), Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook), Hannibal Buress (Broad City), and Andrew Santino (Mixology).
Upton’s last acting role was in 2014’s The Other Woman. She will also appear in next year’s romantic comedy The Layover.
The Disaster Artist is slated to begin principle photography this week.
