The recently announced Baywatch remake has added another lifeguard to their squad in the form of Alexandra Daddario (San Andreas). The actress will play the lifeguard Summer who will be the love interest to Zac Efron’s (We Are Your Friends) character.
Daddario was reportedly one of many actress on a list that included Ashley Benson (Spring Breakers), Nina Dobrev (Let’s Be Cops), Alexandra Shipp (Straight Outta Compton), Shelley Hennig (Ouija), Bianca Santos (The DUFF), and Denyse Tontz (Big Time Rush). Daddario’s casting doesn’t necessarily preclude these actresses from also joining the picture, just as the original series featured an often rotating cast.
The announcement marks a reunion for Daddario and Dwayne Johnson (Furious 7) who played daughter and father, respectively, in San Andreas. Johnson was attached to the project when it was announced in October and he confirmed Daddario’s casting via his personal Twitter account. The film is one of many upcoming projects for Daddario who is set to appear in the Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Choice as well as the road-trip comedy The Layover.
Baywatch is set to start filming next year. No release date has been announced at this time.
