Star Wars trailers have made it a tradition to premiere during TV events. The full trailer for Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith premiered on FOX (20th Century Fox distributed the film) after an episode of The O.C. The final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will premiere at halftime during tonight’s Monday Night Football game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants on ESPN (Like Lucasfilm, ESPN is owned by Disney).
This will likely be the final trailer for the film that will include specific plot details. The website MakingStarWars.net, recently released some rumored plot details that involved a number of political dealings leading to a new galactic civil war. The trailer likely won’t confirm these details in favor of showing action sequences that give each of the many characters some scream time. It will be interesting to see whether the trailer shows Luke Skywalker who hasn’t been seen apart from a cloaked figure in the teaser trailer assumed to be the final living Jedi.
The trailer premieres just one day after the final poster for the film released on the internet. The poster gave us more clues as to what to expect during from the movie, including confirmation that Rey (Daisy Ridley, Scrawl) will be the main character in the film and it looks like there will be some type of new Death Star.
Pre-sale tickets will go on sale immediately following the trailer. For its first month of release, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be the only film shown on IMAX screens across the country when it releases December 18.
We’ll have the trailer as soon as it releases on the internet as well as all other news surrounding the movie leading up to release.
