Paul Feig‘s much anticipated Ghostbusters remake finally has its big bad! Comedian/writer Neil Casey has been tapped for the role of Rowan, nemesis to the all-female Ghostbusters team.
Casey is best known for his stints as a writer and actor on the TV shows Inside Amy Schumer and The Kroll Show. He was also a writer on the 2012-2013 season of Saturday Night Live.
No real details have surfaced about the role of Rowan, but the film is now even more of an SNL reunion of sorts. Ghostbusters Kristen Wiig (Welcome to Me), Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon all have been cast members on the show at one time or another, and Melissa McCarthy (Spy) has appeared as a guest host on several occasions.
Others recently added to the ever-growing cast are Chris Hemsworth (Avengers: Age of Ultron) in the receptionist role made famous in the original by Annie Potts, and Andy Garcia (Kill the Messenger) as the mayor of New York.
The comedy, which is currently shooting, is being directed by Feig (Bridesmaids) from a script he co-wrote with Kate Dippold (The Heat). A July 22, 2016 release is planned.
