Just in time for this week’s Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, a synopsis has been released for the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Warner Bros. has a large presence at the expo, revealing to the public for the first time the new Batmobile and close-up looks at newly designed costumes for our favorite superheroes.
The highly anticipated March 2016 release features an all-star cast including Ben Affleck (The Accountant) and Henry Cavill (the upcoming Man From U.N.C.L.E. big screen reboot) in the titular roles. The plot has been mostly kept under wraps until now, and some might think it’s still under wraps, based on the rather vague synopsis:
Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
So, it’s Batman versus Superman? Check. People need a hero? Check. New threat? Check. Nothing has actually been spoiled? Check.
The film, directed by Zack Snyder (Man of Steel), is set to hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
