X-Men: Apocalypse, the follow-up to last year’s Days of Future Past, will reintroduce classic X-Men team members Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, and Wolverine. All of these roles have been recast to reflect their younger age in this film, except for Wolverine of course. The announcements were made by director Bryan Singer via Twitter.
Meet our new and brilliant young mutants: @Alexshipppp as #Storm @SophieT as #JeanGrey and @TyeSheridan as #Cyclops. #XmenApocalypse

The younger Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm will be portrayed by Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, and Alexandra Shipp, respectively. Sheridan previously appeared in Mud and Tree of Life. Sophie Turner is best known from HBO’s Game of Thrones as Sansa Stark. Alexandra Shipp had roles in Straight Outta Compton and Aayliyah: The Princess of R&B. James McAvoy, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence will all reprise their roles, though we recently learned that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen will not return. Oscar Issac will also appear as the titular villain, Apocalypse.
Singer, along with Simon Kinberg, will return to their familiar roles as writers, with Singer also directing. The two previously worked in various roles on X-Men (2000), X-2 (2003), First Class (2011), and Days of Future Past (2014). X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled for release on May 27, 2016 – one of many superhero films set to hit theaters that year, with some of the others being Captain America: Civil War, Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Deadpool, and Gambit.
