A new film in the Alien franchise is officially in the works at 20th Century Studios. The film is reportedly set to follow up on the franchise’s 2010s installments Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, rather than the most recent film, 2024’s Alien: Romulus. Prisoners screenwriter Aaron Guzikowski is writing the film, while Ridley Scott is reportedly producing. The director has not been announced yet.
This new film would be the second collaboration between Scott and Guzikowski, as the two previously worked together on the HBO Max sci-fi series Raised by Wolves. It is also one of several upcoming projects for screenwriter Aaron Guzikowski. The other films include a currently unnamed sci-fi thriller being directed by Jon Watts and developed for 20th Century Studios, a Phillip K. Dick adaptation being developed for Sony Pictures, and an adaptation of the video game Death Stranding. In addition to Prisoners, Guzikowski’s previous work includes a remake of Papillon, which starred Rami Malek and Charlie Hunnam, and executive producing the Jason Momoa-led TV series Red Road, streaming on the Criterion Channel.
No other details on the film, such as additional cast, crew, or a possible release date, are currently known. It is also unknown whether any cast from previous installments will return.
