Wyatt Russell (Thunderbolts) joins the cast of new comedy Happy. Russell will be joining Asa Butterfield (Hugo), Mark Strong (Kingsman: Secret Service), Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer), Brittany O’Grady (The White Lotus) and Patti Harrison (I think You Should Leave with Tom Robinson). The movie is being written by Ira Steven Behr (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) and will be the John Carroll Lynch’s (Zodiac) second time directing a film for his first being Lucky that starred David Lynch (Twin Peaks) and Harry Dean Stanton (Paris, Texas). According to The Hollywood Reporter, John said,”Wyatt is such a perfect fit for Roger — his insight on the role is so exciting. He has such passion for the project and the part. We couldn’t be happier to have him.” Roger is the character Wyatt is playing who’s purpose in the story has yet to be revealed.

Co-producer of the film, Claude Dal Farra (The Hating Game), told THR,”Wyatt joining Happy is hugely exciting for us. He has such a distinctive presence—funny, charismatic and completely authentic—and we couldn’t be more excited to see him alongside this remarkable cast in John’s hands.” The film begins principal photography March of next year, which is the main phase of filming that involves the actors in the important scenes of the movie.
