Netflix has released the first trailer for Unabomber, giving viewers a look at Jacob Tremblay in one of his darkest roles yet. The upcoming drama follows Ted Kaczynski before and during the FBI investigation that eventually led to his capture. According to Deadline, Tremblay plays Kaczynski, who was known as the Unabomber after carrying out a series of mail bombings over nearly two decades.

The movie jumps between two different periods in Kaczynski’s life. One follows him as a young Harvard student, while the other focuses on the investigation years later. Shailene Woodley plays FBI agent Joanne Miller, a fictional character leading the search for Kaczynski. Russell Crowe also stars as Henry Murray, a Harvard psychologist who became involved in controversial experiments that Kaczynski participated in while he was a student. The trailer gives a look at the relationship between the two and some of the events that help shape Kaczynski’s story.

Directed by Janus Metz, Unabomber also stars Annabelle Wallis, Alexander Ludwig, Steven Ogg, and Marc Menchaca. Sam Chalsen and Nelson Greaves wrote the screenplay. The film is inspired by true events and focuses on Kaczynski’s transformation from a young Harvard prodigy into one of the most notorious domestic terrorists in American history. Rather than only focusing on the FBI manhunt, the movie also looks back at his younger years and the experiences that came before his crimes.

Netflix has set Unabomber for release on September 25, 2026. With Tremblay taking on such a challenging role, the new trailer gives audiences an early look at what could be one of the streamer’s more intense dramas this year. Watch the full trailer below:
