David O. Russell’s Madden, starring Nicholas Cage (National Treasure), is premiering on Prime Video November 18th. The movie was initially set to release nationwide in theaters in November, but no information has been confirmed for the reason why it changed. The movie is supposed to follow the story of National Football League Coach (NFL), John Madden, during his time with the Oakland Raiders now known as Las Vegas Raiders. Cage is joined on the screen with Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) who plays Al Davis, a close friend and partner of Madden during his whole career with the NFL.

In a Amazon promotional video for the film, Cage says, “Accepting this role to play a larger-than-life legend has been a highlight for me. John Madden didn’t just coach football, He changed the game. His football brilliance was unmatched.” The casting for Cage goes back to 2024, when it was announced by Deadline. In the article, Director David O. Russell was quoted saying, “Nicolas Cage, one of our greatest and most original actors, will portray the best of the American spirit of originality, fun, and determination in which anything is possible as beloved national legend John Madden.”
