Minions & Monsters, the latest movie in the Minion franchise, has introduced a character who speaks in sign language. The new character’s name is Ed and he speaks sign language in the form of the original Minionese. Pierre Coffin, the voice and co-creator for the minions, said this in an interview with ScreenRant,

 Ed came from a simple idea. Because the minions are talking gibberish, or Minionese, I wanted to have this hearing-impaired minion speaking the same language, but with signs. We worked with a sign language coach to develop [his speech]. I didn’t know that sign language was country-specific, so I learned that, and we made up this international, Esperanto-esque, Minionese equivalent of sign language.
