After a bit of bad luck with original properties at the box office Pixar has finally jumped back into the game with its newest release Hoppers performing spectacularly well after a good near decade of misfires. Hopper brings home 46 million domestically for its premiere and an international total of 88 million. Though still in the first week hopefully Hoppers will have a steady run at the box office as it doesn’t have a lot of competition at the moment with Goat, which landed in fourth place this week, in its fourth week, only bringing home 6.6 million performing modestly well from Sony as the only notable contender having already racked up 83.8 million domestically.
In it’s second week Scream 7 plummeted a surprising 73%, making it the steepest drop off for any of the films in the series despite helping push the franchise as a whole into the 1 billion club and having the best opening weekend of the series by far. Whether or not this is tied to the ongoing protest and controversy around the film remains to be seen. Scream 7 brought in 17.3 million in second place in its second week.
Third place went to newcomer The Bride which bombed, with a spectacular 7.3 million opening for its premiere making back only 1/6th of its budget and ending the Warner Bros box office streak of back-to-back first place openings from the studio. As stated earlier Goat came in fourth with the top five being rounded out by Wuthering Heights with 3.75 million and it’s fourth week in fifth place.
The bottom half the chart kicks off with Crime 101 in sixth stealing 2 million in it’s fourth week followed by Send Help with 1.6 million in it’s 6th week and seventh place with a very close call of I Can Only Imagine 2 in eighth place with 1.52 million in its third week.
Ninth place went to Elvis Presley in Concert which in the third week this event racked up 1.52 million as well, just slightly under I Can Only Imagine 2. Tenth place went to a surprising re-release with Demon Slayer Infinity Castle coming back to select theaters for a short time making 1.3 million and seeing it back in the top 10 since it departed last November after dominating the entire October box office it is technically and it’s 26 week.
