Sony Pictures Classics has officially acquired the comedy Gail Daughtry And The Celebrity Sex Pass, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, for distribution. The comedy is directed by Wet Hot American Summer filmmaker David Wain, and written by Wain and frequent collaborator Ken Marino. The film’s madcap plot follows a hairdresser named Gail Daughtry who discovers that her husband slept with his “celebrity pass”. Following this discovery, Gail, along with her friend Otto, takes a road trip to Los Angeles, where the two meet a psychic, who convinces Gail that the only way to reconcile her marriage is for her to “Even the scales” by sleeping with her “celebrity pass”, actor John Hamn. The two then set out to find the actor, accompanied by a talent agent’s assistant and actor John Slattery, leading to all four characters ending up tied up in a wild plot involving Italian mobsters.
The film stars Zoey Deutch, Ken Marino, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Ben Wang, Sabrina Impacciatore, John Hamm, and John Slattery. It received positive reviews at its Sundance premiere and currently has a 73% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Sony Pictures Classics will be distributing Gail Daughtry And The Celebrity Sex Pass, though a release date is currently unknown.
