Fresh off of her Oscar win, it’s still a wonder what Mikey Madison’s next project will be. Madison won her Oscar for her role in Sean Baker’s Anora, where she played a sex worker who fell in love with the son of a Russian oligarch.
It was reported that Madison was offered a lead role in the upcoming Star Wars film directed by Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy. Variety notes that Levy himself reached out to Madison to offer her the role. However, she turned it down. No specific reason was cited.
Madison turning down the role stems from rumors that Marvel Studios was also considering her for a future film. It’s not surprising given the acclaim she has received in the past year. However, since her Oscar win, she has not signed on to any new projects. Perhaps she is considering her roles more heavily, since expectations for her follow-up film will be high from fans and critics alike.
This news comes at the same time as Star Wars Celebration is beginning today, on April 18 to April 20. Levy’s Star Wars film is set to be the franchise’s next film following The Mandalorian & Grogu, which premieres on May 26, 2026. Levy’s film is set to star Ryan Gosling and will be written by Jonathan Tropper, who previously worked with Levy on Netflix’s The Adam Project.
