The upcoming action thriller G20 will be featuring Viola Davis as U.S. President Danielle Sutton. The film is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and MRC Film. In the film, terrorists have taken over the G20 Summit, and President Sutton must bring her statecraft and military experience to defend her family and other world leaders.
In an interview with Variety, right before the Red Sea Film Festival, Davis said, “There was no one that I could model her after.” She went on to say that Sutton was “a completely fictitious character that was born out of the imagination of several writers.”
Davis is one of the 27 people to ever earn EGOT status, meaning she has won an Emmy, Oscar, Grammy, and Tony award statuettes. However, she has said that it isn’t the kind of thing she wants on her gravestone. What she does want instead, she is not sure.
“There’s not a lot of words you can put on a gravestone, you know. I just want to be the beloved daughter, beloved wife, beloved mom. I think those are the greatest roles that I could ever have in my life. Especially as a mom with Genesis — I wouldn’t put it on her that she’s my legacy, but if I can leave something in her, I think about that more than I think about any accomplishments that I’ve had in my career.”
G20 will be premiering on prime video in more than 240 countries and territories. Directed by Patricia Riggen, vision, through Davis, exercises her acting chops. This is especially true since, as she said, she had no one to base the role on.
