The Red Sea International Film Festival just secured a new sponsor for their annual fest. TikTok will be joining as a sponsor, as well as contributing its unique spotlights to the world of film.
The Red Sea International Film Festival has been running since 2021 out of Jeddah, located in Saudi Arabia. It aims to showcase Saudi Arabian films and to help the industry grow within the country.
TikTok itself has become extremely popular in the years since its inception. Specializing in short-form videos, TikTok became one of the biggest social media sites and still continues in that vein while innovating ways for the app to stay connected to the film industry. Hollywood Reporter noted that a recent feature of theirs, TikTok Spotlight, highlights this, using the app to promote new projects.
Reportedly, TikTok will also be offering a slew of activities that will tie into both the festival itself as well as those who made the films that will screen at the festival.
Samaher Mously, RSIFF’s director of marketing and communications, spoke to the creative nature of TikTok’s content, saying that it “is the perfect partner to continue to expand our festival to new audiences from around the world.”
