A brand new trailer has been released for Disney’s Christmas film this year, Mufasa: The Lion King. This trailer promises to be the last ahead of the film’s release in over a month.
As the title infers, Mufasa chronicles the young life of Simba’s father, Mufasa, showing his beginnings alone and orphaned, and following him as he meets another young lion. The two of them form a brotherly bond as they grow up and face new challenges that cross their paths.
Mufasa serves as a prequel to the 2019 Lion King, which was directed by Jon Favreau. Barry Jenkins, director of Moonlight, is slipping into the directors chair this time around, partnering with writer Jeff Nathanson.
Aaron Pierre leads the film as the voice of Mufasa, alongside Kelvin Harrison Jr. as his new companion, Taka. The rest of the voice actors include Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, and Keith David, among others. John Kani, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, and Billy Eichner are all set to reprise their roles from the 2019 film, as well.
The final trailer, which will be linked below, gives audiences a look into the core dynamic of the film, and gives a taste of how their adventure will take shape. It even shows Mufasa meeting a younger Rafiki, who was a key character in both the 2019 and 1994 Lion King.
Mufasa: The Lion King hits theaters December 20th. Check out the trailer below.
