Superman, one of pop culture’s biggest icons, is almost ready for his next big screen outing. The upcoming film Superman, from director James Gunn, has wrapped up filming. David Corenswet, who starred in Pearl, and, more recently, Twisters, will be responsible for playing Kal-El in the new film. Alongside him will be Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
Superman, on top of being a new take on the man of steel, marks the beginning of a brand new continuity of films based on DC comics. With the film marking a new era in DC films, as well, it offers fans more than just Superman. Nathan Fillion is cast as Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern, alongside Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. It is unclear how these characters will play into the main story as it unfolds in Superman.
As Deadline reports, Gunn took to Instagram to make a post commemorating the filming finishing. Gunn had nothing but gratitude to express for those he worked with, going so far as to say that the energy felt from the cast added to his own motivation. “The destination has been Superman, but the but the journey has been the the toil and the laughter and the emotions and ideas and magic we’ve shared together on set – and for that I am forever grateful,” Gunn said in his post.
Superman hits theaters on July 11, 2025.
