A new interpretation of the 1994 cult classic The Crow is soon to release. A new trailer has been released for the upcoming film.
The Crow follows Eric Draven, a musician who is killed alongside his fiance on the night before their wedding. Once he has been buried, Draven comes back from the dead, and will stop at nothing to take down the criminal gang that killed him and his wife.
Based on the comic James O’Barr created, the film starred Brandon Lee, Ernie Hudson, and Tony Todd. The filming of the first movie resulted in the untimely accident that led to Brandon Lee’s death, after a gun used on set was not properly checked. The film was later dedicated to Lee.
Taking up the mantle of the character in the new film is Bill Skarsgård, already hailing from an impressive background when he portrayed Pennywise in the brand new It films. He also starred in Barbarian, and John Wick: Chapter 4.
As Rolling Stone reports, director Rupert Sanders said, in reference to Draven as a character, that “his story is about tragic loss, about dealing with the pain of everything that comes with losing someone you love, something that all of us have or will encounter at some point in our lives.… Our version goes back to that graphic novel by James O’Barr, who I had the honor of meeting shortly before production, and explores the love story as the primary drive for our film.” Sanders also directed Snow White And The Huntsman, and the 2017 adaptation of Ghost In The Shell.
Skarsgård, saying he “felt a responsibility to Eric’s story,” stated that the approach Sanders took to bringing the story to life in a brand new way was what drew him to the project in the first place.
The Crow is set to release June 7th of this year. Check out the trailer below.
