On Thursday, a new trailer for the sequel film of Dune was released. The film, according to Deadline, is the second of three planned. The source notes that the film is set to release in theaters on November 3rd of this year, with stars Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet returning as their notable characters, along with other familiar faces from the initial film.
The Hollywood Reporter explains how the secondary film of the trilogy follows Paul Atreides (Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya) as they seek war against the Harkonnens, who had ruined Atreides’s family.
Dune: Part Two, directed by Denis Villeneuve, is based on the novel written by Frank Herbert. Jon Spaihts, who co-wrote the screenplay along with Villeneuve, returns for the secondary screenplay of the franchise. The initial film, according to Deadline, had been nominated for eleven Oscars, including Best Picture. Dune had won six Oscars at the 2022 awards, with several of the awardees of the film returning for Part Two.
Some new faces have joined the cast list for the upcoming film, such as Florence Pugh, Léa Seydoux, Souheila Yacoub, Austin Butler, and even Christopher Walken, who appears in the trailer as the scheming Emperor, as put by The Hollywood Reporter.
