Mia Challis, who will soon be seen in the upcoming Netflix thriller series Clickbait has been cast in the long-awaited sequel to 2013’s Evil Dead. Lee Cronin is directing the film Evil Dead Rise, best known for the horror film The Hole in the Ground or just horror films in general.
Deadline confirmed the news that Challis would star as Jessica, an 18-year-old girl fascinated with fashion and Instagram. Jessica loves being the center of attention, despite being smarter than she lets on.
Challis joins the already announced cast of Lily Sullivan (Picnic at Hanging Rock) and Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings).
In the last Evil Dead film, it followed a road-weary Beth as she pays a long-overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three children on her own in a small Los Angeles apartment. However, their reunion is short-lived when a mysterious book is discovered deep within Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons and driving Beth into a primordial fight for survival as she faces the most horrifying form of motherhood conceivable.
Interestingly, the writer, director, EP Sam Raimi, EP and producer Robert Tapert, and EP-actor Bruce Campbell, the actor who started it all by playing Ash Williams, are among the creatives associated with the original 1981 Evil Dead that are involved in the making of the sequel Evil Dead Rise.
Even though it was just announced that Challis had joined Evil Dead Rise, filming has already begun in New Zealand.
