Nicolas Cage‘s filmography, performances, and general existence is often times perplexing, but sometimes a perfect storm comes together, granting the world a quintessential Nicolas Cage character and film. Whether that be Raising Arizona or Driver Angry 3D, the 57 year-old actor is always engaging, and always makes interesting decisions to say the least. This week marks the release of the NEON film Pig, starring none other than Nicolas Cage.
The film follows a hunter named Rob(Cage) who lives alone in the wilderness, but he comes back to society only after his beloved pig has been taken from him.
It seems like a mixture of a John Wick movie with a hint of the Ben Foster film Leave No Trace. An action revenge thriller meets a forest drama.
Pig, while having a bonkers premise has been marketed as a drama. The film is directed and co-written by Michael Sarnoski making his feature directorial debut, while stars Alex Wolff and Adam Arkin round out the main cast.
Based on the trailer, the film looks quite engaging and simply adds to Cage’s already prolific career spanning over five decades. Following this film’s release, Nicolas Cage will next star as himself in the comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which has an eclectic group of A-Listers including Pedro Pascal, Tiffany Haddish, and Neil Patrick Harris.
Pig is set for a July 16, 2021 release date.
