Christina Ricci has been added to the cast of The Matrix 4. According to Collider, the casting information comes from an updated press kit from Warner Bros. The details of her character in the still untitled film are still unknown. Warner Bros. has refused to comment on the announcement, as well as Ricci’s representatives, whom Variety reached out to.
Ricci joins an already impressive cast including returning cast members Keanu Reeves, Carrie Ann-Moss, Daniel Bernhardt, and Jada Pinkett-Smith as well as several franchise newcomers: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jonathan Groff and Neil Patrick Harris.
This will be Ricci’s second collaboration with director Lana Wachaowski, after the 2008 adaptation of Speed Racer. Ricci is best known for her roles in films such as The Addams Family, Black Snake Moan, Sleepy Hollow, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Casper, and Buffalo 66.
Although much still remains unknown about the upcoming sequel, it remains one of the most anticipated films of the year. The Matrix 4 is being written and directed by Lana Wachaowkski, and is co-written by David Mitchell and Alexander Hemon.
The film is set to be released on December 22 in theaters and on HBO Max.
