Focus Features has set a release date of December 3 for a new Irish drama titled Wolf, which stars George MacKay and Lily-Rose Depp. The film will release alongside Guillermo del Toro‘s next film with Searchlight, Nightmare Alley, as well as an untitled film from NEON.
Wolf follows a man who believes he’s a wolf trapped in a human body. He eats, sleeps and lives like a wolf, and when he’s sent to a clinic, he and other animal-bound people are subjected to extreme forms of ‘curative’ therapies. Eventually, he meets a mysterious Wildcat, and as their friendship becomes something more, Jacob must decide between his true self and love.
The film was written and directed by Nathalie Biancheri, who previously directed the 2019 film Nocturnal. Joining MacKay and Depp in the cast are Senan Jennings, Darragh Shannon, Elisa Fioneuir, Lola Petticrew, Amy Macken, Fionn O’Shea, Paddy Considine, Karise Yansen and Eileen Walsh.
This will be MacKay’s first feature role since the 2019 war drama 1917. The actor is also set to star in the upcoming historical drama Munich, where he’ll appear alongside Jeremy Irons and Jessica Brown Findlay. Depp has been busier as of late with the 2021 opioid drama Crisis, which also starred Gary Oldman, Armie Hammer and Evangeline Lilly. She also starred in Neil Burger‘s sci-fi thriller Voyagers alongside Colin Farrell and Tye Sheridan.
