Avengers: Age of Ultron was released just a week ago, and Marvel is already hyping up its sequel, Captain America: Civil War with several casting announcements and confirmations, including that Paul Rudd‘s character Scott Lang (aka Ant-Man) will be joining the cast, following the release of Ant-Man later this summer.
It’s long been rumored that Paul Rudd’s character would appear in Captain America: Civil War following his premiere this summer, but now it has been officially confirmed. Rudd joins a long list of veteran Marvel castmates, including Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Emily VanCamp as Agent 13, as well as some newcomers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, such as Martin Freeman (The Hobbit).
Captain America: Civil War is set to pick up directly after Age of Ultron, with politicians seeking accountability for the actions of the superheroes who save the world and, unfortunately, cause a lot of destruction in the process. Civil War is a highly popular comic arc in the Marvel Universe and will see teammates Captain America and Iron Man take polarizing positions on the debate over indexing and accounting for all the “enhanced” people in the world, who either save it or put it in danger.
The Russo brothers are returning to helm Captain America: Civil War, which will be released on May 6, 2016. Ant-Man will be released this summer on July 17.
