Sony Pictures presents Florian Zeller’s upcoming film, The Son, starring Hugh Jackman and Laura Dern.
Written by Christopher Hampton and Zeller, The Son is a drama that shows the struggles of a family falling apart and the complications of children after a divorce.
Peter (Jackman) has moved on from ex-wife Kate (Dern) with Beth (Vanessa Kirby) whom he has an infant with. Kate brings their teenage son Nicholas (Zen McGrath) to Peter in hopes he can help their troubled son. Nicholas has been missing from school for months and is troubled, distant and angry. Peter tries to take care of Nicholas like his own father (Anthony Hopkins) should have taken care of him, but trying to juggle work, his new family and his past makes for difficult situations for Peter. By trying to fix the past and its mistakes, Peter loses sight of how to hold onto the present Nicholas.
The film features music by Hans Zimmer. Other production members include editor Yorgos Lamprinos, cinematographer Ben Smithard, and production designer Simon Bowles.
