Atlanta and Joker star, Zazie Beetz, has been recruited for Sony’s new action-thriller Bullet Train, where she’ll star alongside Brad Pitt, Joey King and Aaron Taylor Johnson. Atomic Blonde and Hobbs & Shaw director David Leitch is set to direct the script, which will be written by Zak Olkewicz.
Bullet Train is based on the Japanese novel Maria Beetle by best-selling author Kotaro Isaka, and will follow a group of assassins aboard a bullet train who find out their missions have something in common.
Leitch’s wife, Kelly McCormick, will produce the film with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua through 87North. Kat Samick will executive produce, and Brittany Morrisey is overseeing the project for Sony.
Other names attached to the film are fellow Atlanta star Brian Tyree Henry and Peaky Blinders actor Andrew Koji. It’s unknown what role Beetz will play.
Since her breakout role on FX’s Atlanta, Beetz has starred in blockbuster hits like Deadpool 2 and Joker, which quickly made her a big name. She also stars in the upcoming sci-fi drama Nine Days, which had quite a successful premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
It’s been over a year since we’ve seen Pitt on the big screen. He most recently starred in the sci-fi epic Ad Astra, and it’s rumored that he’ll play a part in Damien Chazelle’s upcoming period-piece Babylon.
