Zach Cregger’s new, explosive horror film, Weapons, has reached a monumental milestone at the box office.
The feature has already surpassed Cregger’s last film, 2022’s Barbarian, with a box office gross of $45.3 million and a performance of $70 million at the global box office in just three days. According to Warner Bros. Discovery, Weapons grossed “an additional $6.7 million at the domestic box office on Tuesday,” which makes the collective gross approximately $55.4 million domestically. This makes it the 22nd film of 2025 to surpass the $50 million milestone at the domestic box office. Weapons also becomes “the first original horror movie” to pass $50 million at the domestic box office since Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which grossed $278.6 million domestically and $365.9 million globally.
Weapons was directed and written by Cregger, who originally got his start in comedy, where he was a founding member of the Whitest Kids U’ Know sketch comedy group. The feature centers around a small town and its citizens who have “been troubled by the mysterious disappearances of seventeen students in the same elementary school class.” The ensemble cast includes Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, Cary Christopher, Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan.
Weapons is in theaters everywhere now.
