Zac Efron To Star In Leading Role For ‘Famous’

A24 has secured Zac Effron for one of their new projects. Billed as a thriller, Effron will star in Famous, playing multiple roles. The film itself is about a man who comes to Hollywood to try to take the place of a film icon who just so happens to look exactly like he does. Famous will be directed by Jody Hill, who also directed 2009’s Observe And Report, and 2006’s The Foot Fist Way. Effron will star in the leading role, and, as stated, will play multiple roles, specifically the two key look-alike characters. So far, Effron is the only one confirmed for the cast.

Deadline, who was quick to the draw with reporting on the film, made note of this being the second occurrence recently where Effron has appeared in an A24 movie. Last year saw the release of The Iron Claw. Directed by Sean Durkin, the film portrays the life of the Von Erichs, a group of brothers who were prominent wrestlers through the 80s. Effron starred in the film as Kevin Von Erich, alongside Jeremy Allen White and Harris Dickinson. Deadline also noted that his role in Iron Claw landed Effron a slew of great reviews upon the movie’s release.
